Where do they originate from?

Tibetan terriers originate from Tibet, which is located in the northern Himalayas. It mainly consists of mountains. indicating why Tibetans love to climb and get their nose into everything!

They are described as working dogs because of their broad build. Tibet in the winter is extremely cold, meaning Tibetans have long thick hair to keep them warm.  



What’s their behaviour like?  

Tibetan’s generally have an inquisitive mannerism. They like to get into trouble and mischief. However, they are very loyal once they get to know you and will rarely leave your side.

Males like to be left alone however they can be affectionate when they want. Females usually want more attention and are affectionate, because they have a motherly instinct.

What do they look like?

Tibetan terriers have a range of colours, including grey and white, black and white, red and white and fudge. They are usually black and white, with red and white, and fudge, being the rarest colours.



When you look at a Tibetan you would probably assume they have fur, however it is actually hair. This makes them hypoallergenic, meaning if you are allergic to animal fur you are less likely to be affected by them.
