Read on to discover six reasons why you are always tired. Hopefully, you’ll be able to solve this everlasting problem.
1. Lack of sleep
How many of you reading this can honestly say you get more than eight hours of sleep? I know I can’t. Teens between the ages of 13-18 need around eight to nine hours of sleep. Lack of sleep is one of the more obvious reasons, but also one of the main ones. Maybe you are staying up all night watching Netflix or YouTube, or maybe you left your homework to the last minute and stayed up until 2am finishing it.
Try and learn to manage your time correctly. Do that and you will find that you can meet up with friends, watch YouTube, do all your homework and still get eight hours of sleep.
2. Stress
Did you know that stress can make you chronically fatigued, exhausted, and tired all the time? Many of us are stressed, maybe because of school or work or maybe because of some silly drama. To learn more about dealing with stress, there are lots of online resources you can look at, like this one from the NHS.
3. Depression
Depression can affect your sleep and energy levels and can mean you struggle to go to sleep and get up in the mornings. If you think that you may be depressed, please speak to a doctor or check out one of this link from the NHS, or for the Depression Alliance.
4. Not enough calories
You may not know this, but if you don’t eat enough calories, it can slow down your metabolism in order the conserve energy. You typically need a minimum of 1,200 calories per day, so if you find that you aren’t having enough calories it may be the reason why you feel tired all the time. Other health problems can make you tired also, including Hypothyroidism, Heart Disease, Sleep Apnea, Hepatitis and Diabetes.
5. Daytime Naps
You might think that taking a nap would help, however, it can make it harder for you to fall asleep at night.
6. Exercising
Exercising is good for you, but if you exercise before bed it wakes your brain up, making it harder to sleep at night. However, this is not an excuse to not exercise! You still need to exercise to be healthy, just don’t do it right before you sleep.
