Work For Us

Are you a journalist?

We have two main ways we work with journalists. The first is focused on content, the second is focused on volunteering.

Interested in a story on our website?

All our stories are available to be used by other publications, pending agreement with The Student View. If you are interested, please get in touch with us here. We love working with publications, whether local, regional, or national! All our stories are written by students in collaboration with The Student View, so we expect that the students and The Student View are appropriately credited.

All our datasets are also available to the public. If you would like a dataset from a story, please get in touch here. Please note that while most stories are based off Freedom of Information requests, some stories are based off datasets already in the public domain and some are not based off datasets at all.

Volunteering as a journalist

We are always looking for new journalists to become Student View mentors. Our mentors are a key part of what we do, helping pupils understand news as both consumers and creators.

We ask for no more than roughly three hours of your time at one school, and that is it!

We have mentors from every corner of the UK media industry, from trade magazines to local papers, and from international broadcasting to national print. Typically our mentors volunteer alongside other mentors, so it is not only a great opportunity to gain the news perspectives of young people, but it is also a great chance to network and meet other people in your industry.

If you are freelance or a recently trained journalist, we are currently looking for facilitators to deliver our workshops in schools. Our facilitators are paid, receive training and get valuable experience. So, whether you are interested in teaching more frequently, or just simply trying to figure out how young people think, we’d like to hear from you.
