Children’s Mental Health: More Receiving Treatment in Southwark
A total of 1,502 children and young people were referred to mental health specialists in Southwark in 2019.
The number of children being referred to mental health services increased by 436 from 2015 to 2019.
A total of 1,502 children and young people had been referred to specialists at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in 2019, compared to 1,066 in 2015.
Meanwhile, the average wait for a face-to-face appointment from being referred by a GP increased from 6.8 weeks in 2015 to 14.5 weeks in 2019.
On top of that South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has vacancies equivalent to almost 70 full-time members of staff.
This was revealed following a Freedom of Information request by literacy charity The Student View to the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
