A three-day weekend would better for all of us and could have an overall positive effect on the world. Here’s why.

We should get a rest

For five days a week, 8 hours a day, we are stuck in a demanding, punishing building that goes by the name of school. These numbers are just too high. A four-day school week gives students as well as teachers an additional day to relax every week. The way things are now there is hardly any time to breathe. Exam after exam, homework after homework, no time to rest or spend with family or friends.

Schools start way too early

One of the main reasons why young people can hardly open their eyes in lessons is because of early school start times. Less sleep leads to and is associated with higher health risks, including being overweight and drinking alcohol, as well a poor academic performance. I think that these outcomes can only be blamed by the early start times. The more sleep, the better. An extra day would make up for these dreadful results without a doubt.

I firmly believe that an extra day off school and work would be beneficial in the long run and would be enjoyable for people of all ages and professions.
