With the support of Google.org, we are scaling our newsrooms to schools beyond London to places including Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff, as well as England’s social mobility 'cold spots'. Our aim is to train young people to spot disinformation and create trusted local news content.
We are partnering with local journalists to create ‘newsrooms’ within schools, which will, in turn, empower students to produce trusted news content online.
Overall, this project will reach 300 students throughout 30 schools across England and Wales over a two-year time period, with a specific focus on underserved communities.
“We're delighted to provide funding, partnership and training to help The Student View scale their work beyond London and ensure students across the UK can become critical media consumers and creators.”
