From January 2019 to July 2020 and with the support of Google.org, we expanded our newsrooms to schools beyond London to 19 more towns and cities across the UK in places including Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff, as well as England’s social mobility 'cold spots'. We trained young people to spot disinformation and create trusted local news content.

From January 2019 to July 2020, we partnered with local journalists to create pop-up newsrooms within schools, which empowered teenage secondary school pupils to produce trusted news content online.

Overall, this project reached more than 300 schoolchildren throughout 30 schools in England and Wales, with a specific focus on underserved communities.
