Being honest is hard

Are you a person who tells the truth to your friend about what they’re wearing?

Imagine your best friend buys a new backpack. The shape is fashionable, but the colour is unappealing. Do you compliment it or would you say the truth? You should always start with a positive, then you should end with a negative. For example, you should say: “I really admire the fashionable shape, but I think the colour is too much as the shape is already a lot to handle.”

On the other hand, your friend’s mother bought her a pair of shoes that she hates because the colour is mustard yellow. But you really adore that colour, so you persuade her to love it because mustard yellow is on trend. You could even tell her that the colour suits her.

Lying to friends to protect their feelings

Are you the person who keeps the truth about other people to yourself and says positive things instead of saying the negative things which are deep inside?

Everybody these days wants clothing brands, yet a lot of people don’t have the money to buy them. Some people make fun of you because of that. On the other hand, this makes some people less likely to tell the truth, so they decide to only speak positively. For example, you would say or hear, “I don’t think those shoes suit you because brown is not your colour”. That is if you are honest about telling your friend the negative comments. If you are a person who doesn’t make negative comments, you should say: “I think your shoes look great”.

Tell them to be proud of who they are

When you and your friends are going out and they have to wear their religious clothes and feel self-conscious about it, you should tell them: “You should express who you are and what you stand for. Also, you shouldn’t care if someone is saying rude things about what you’re wearing because being intolerant won’t get you anywhere in life.”
