What is vaping?

Vaping is when you inhale and exhale an aerosol or vapour. This is produced by an e-cigarette or similar device. Vaping devices include not just e-cigarettes, but also vape pens and advanced personal vaporisers.

How does vaping effect the body?

Vaping products may be aerosols but they also have nicotine in them, which is a toxic substance. It makes your blood pressure rise and causes a spike in your adrenaline. This makes your heart rate increase, which in turn increases the likelihood of having a heart attack.

A new generation is getting hooked

Among young people, e-cigarettes are more popular than any traditional tobacco product. In 2015, the U.S. Surgeon General reported that e-cigarette use among secondary school aged students had increased by 900%. Plus, 40% of young e-cigarette users had never smoked regular tobacco. Similar figures are believed to apply to the UK by some.

Vape vs cigarettes

Vaping is less harmful than conventional smoking. No matter the flavour, it does cause less damage to the lungs. However, it is still not safe or healthy.
