The Nintendo Switch should not be dismissed. In fact, I think you should try and acquire one of these gaming devices this year! Here’s why.

Home and on the go

The first reason why you should think about buying this game console is for a new, practical and very interesting feature. The console is usable both at home and on the go, when in portable mode. This idea hasn’t been implemented until the Switch. Nintendo has executed the idea almost perfectly as the transformation between the two modes is seamless and fast.

Batteries

While it is portable and also a home console, it is still essentially a tablet with the power of a gaming machine. This means that it does have a small set-back in terms of a battery life which some people may find too short. However, Trusted Review writes ‘you’ll get somewhere between 2 hours and 45 minutes to 3 hours and 15 minutes playing Breath of the Wild, depending on the settings you use’. I think that is a good battery life and makes the device usable, even without using a battery pack or extender.

A huge selection of games to pick from

Another reason that you should consider the Switch is that despite having only been released for one year, the machine already has lots of games. Some of these games include Fortnite, Skyrim, DOOM, Minecraft, Mario Kart and Zelda. There are also many more on the way.

I will admit that there is a small drawback with this. The graphics on some of these games have been downgraded or lowered to fit onto the hybrid and in order to become portable. However, in my personal opinion, I believe that this does not necessarily matter. Accepting lower quality graphics to play your favourite game on the go is a very small price in the grand scheme of things.
