More Than 100 Islamophobic Hate Crimes Reported In Harrow Over 5 Years
Over half of these crimes included the use of threatening, abusive and insulting words against Muslim people.
More than 100 cases of Islamophobia were reported to the police in Harrow between 2015 and 2019.
Around 53 percent of the 142 incidents were public order offences, which include the use of threatening, abusive and insulting words or behaviour.
While 42 incidents were classified as violence against the person, which ranges from murder to wounding and common assault.
A total of 5 incidents of this nature were reported at places of worship between January 1, 2015, and December 21, 2019.
According to the last census in 2011, 12.5 percent of residents in Harrow registered as Muslim.
These findings were made by the media literacy charity The Student View.
The Metropolitan Police has been approached for comment.
