Feminists are people who stand up for women’s rights and for their rights to be equal to men. If you’re a feminist then you are probably strong and a person who does not care if you’re thought to be stupid or anything else that you’re actually not.

What are feminists fighting for?

Feminists are fighting for their social, economic, and local rights. This is so important and people should know the daily struggles of being a woman in life today. One in three women has experienced violence against them at some point in their life.

What does it mean to be a proud feminist?

To me, it means that you are a feminist who does not care if people think what you’re saying is wrong. You are strong and when you get hate you throw it out like it's trash (which it is). An anonymous quote I like - ‘hate is a weak emotion, a sign of weakness’. Hate shows signs of weakness as it shows you that that person wants a barrier that they think people can’t get through.

Are we born with our identities planned?

As said by Simone de Beauvoir: ‘one is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.’ This is saying that you are never defined by your gender - it’s what you do for your gender that takes you there and makes you become your own. You aren’t born with what you are going to do; you create what you are going to be and do as you go along.

Who is Simone de Beauvoir?

Simone de Beauvoir was way ahead of her time, she was one of the first proud feminists. She has said so many amazing things like: ‘Change your life today. Don't gamble on the future, act now, without delay’. This is one her most famous quotes and also gets a high rating on my scale of awesome quotes. She also wrote a book called ‘The Second Sex’, which paved the way for modern feminism today. I believe she was an inspiring woman who could change a whole world if she wanted to.
