The next Chelsea manager will probably have a tight budget for new transfer targets. Although Conte has a year left on his contract, most people expect him to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. The Italian wants to leave after a fallout with Chelsea’s board and also enduring a horrible season at the Bridge. Instead of looking on the transfer market to strengthen Chelsea’s squad, Roman Abramovich and the rest of the board are saving their dosh to look for a youthful manager for Chelsea. Former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique is still the favourite to take over at Stamford Bridge at the moment.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are determined to keep Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer, although both of their first seasons at Stamford Bridge were not the best, as Morata scored 15 in all competitions and Bakayoko failed to impress in central midfield. Barcelona are looking for a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique as he turns 32 this year. Apparently, Marcos Alonso is at the top of the pecking order for the La Liga champions. Alonso is a key player for Chelsea. He has also stepped up for Spain as they beat a visibly upset Argentina side 6-1 earlier before Easter.
