Four of the most common animals that the British eat are pigs, cows, sheep and chicken. These animals need water and food and they also emit greenhouse gases. Obviously, one person not eating meat is not going to help the environment but there is a strong vegetarian community out there fighting for animal rights and helping our environment to be a better place.

Lots of people turn to vegetarianism to have a longer, healthier life. If you’re a vegetarian it results in you consuming a lot of vitamin C and E and unsaturated fat. This means that vegetarians are less likely to have heart disease, diabetes, lower blood pressure and also have a lower risk of obesity. Instead of counting your calories (which is not good for your body or mental health) or going on a strict diet, just eat more vegetables!

As you may know, meat can be expensive so trying a plant-based diet might be the answer to your financial needs. Quorn is a brand that provides meat substitutes. Their items cost around £1.00 to £3.00 These items contain a lot of protein and are healthy for your body. Let’s not mention the fact that a packet of 10 big carrots costs £0.70 at Waitrose, that’s right…Waitrose, one of the most expensive supermarket brands. Even better, a tin of sliced carrots is £0.20 at Tesco’s! There are many cheap vegetarian restaurants out there waiting to be found too: being a meat-eater means that you don’t necessarily reach out into the amazing world of vegetarian fast food.
