There is no doubt that Chelsea is a good team, but they could’ve been better if they hadn’t sold these four individuals.
1. Mohammed Salah
On 23rd of January 2014, Chelsea completed the transfer of Mohammed Salah from Basel in the Swiss league after he scored two goals against Chelsea in the same season in the Champions League. Salah scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 6-0 win against Arsenal in 2014. Salah went on to score 2 goals in 13 appearances for Chelsea. In the next season, Chelsea loaned out Salah to Fiorentina where he played 16 games and scored 6 goals. The season of 15/16 saw Salah go on loan to Roma where he played 34 games and scored 14 goals.
The following season, the Egyptian join Roma on a permanent deal for £15 million, where he played 31 games and scored 15 goals. For the 2017/18 season, Salah Joined Liverpool for a world record fee of £36.9 million, where he scored 44 goals in 52 appearances. The 'Egyptian King' has played 60 games for his national side and scored 37 goals.
2. Kevin De Bruyne
In 2012, Kevin De Bruyne joined Chelsea from Genk for an undisclosed fee. He only featured in three games and didn’t score a single goal. The following season KDB went on loan to Werder Bremen where he played 33 games and scored 10 goals.
In 2014, the Belgian joined Wolfsburg for £18 million where he played 51 games and 13 goals. Then in the 2015/16 season, De Bruyne joined Manchester City for a club record fee of £54 million, where he has so far played 142 games and scored 35 goals. He also plays for the Belgian national team, where he has 68 caps and scored 15 goals.
3. Romelu Lukaku
Lukaku is another Belgian that didn’t get a chance at The Blues. He joined in 2011 from Anderlecht and then he only appeared 10 times for Chelsea and scored no goals. In 2012, Lukaku joined West Bromwich Albion on loan where he appeared 35 times and scored 17 goals for the Baggies. The following season Lukaku went out on loan again and joined Everton on a season-long loan and he played 31 games and scored 15 goals. The 2014/15 season saw Lukaku join the Toffees on a permanent deal which was said to be around £28 million. He played 110 games for Everton and scored 53 goals.
Lukaku spent 3 seasons at Everton and in the summer of 2017 Lukaku signed for Manchester United for a club record fee of £90 million. He has since played 42 games and scored 20 goals. In 2010, Lukaku made his senior debut for Belgium. He has since played 77 games and scored 43 goals which making him the all-time highest goalscorer for the Red Devils.
4. Juan Cuadrado
The Colombian winger joined Chelsea in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £23.3million, but he appeared only 13 times for Chelsea and scored no goals. In the winter transfer window of 2016, Cuadrado was loaned out to Juventus for two consecutive seasons where he played 56 games and scored 6 goals for the Old Lady. Then in the summer of 2017, Juan Cuadrado finally joined the Bianconeri for a fee of £20 million, where he has since played 27 games and 4 goals. He also helped lead them to a Champions League final in the 2017/18 season. Juan Cuadrado has 76 caps for the Colombian national team and has scored 8 goals.
