Angela Phillips

Angela teaches journalism and journalism studies at Goldsmiths, University of London and is active in journalism research. She established the MA Journalism, MA Digital Journalism and initiated the joint honours BA Journalism in conjunction with the Department of Computing, as well as convening all other undergraduate journalism courses.

In 2009, she launched East London Lines a local, multi-media, news website that is run by Goldsmiths students and has a significant local audience.​ ​She has been a journalist for over forty years, starting in the alternative and feminist press of the 1970s and moving on to work for national newspapers, magazines, television and radio (the BBC and independents).

Angela is the chair of the Ethics Committee of the Coordinating Committee for Media Reform. She gave evidence to the Leveson enquiry into the press.
