Salary: £250- 500 per month (depending on experience) 

Contract: Fixed Term one year subject to renewal

Reports to: Editorial and Programme Lead, The Student View

We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Media Consultant to help drive engagement across all our social media channels. 

The StudentView is a charity on a mission to create a newsroom in every school. We aim to improve diversity in the media, media literacy, and revitalise local news deserts. Our work won The News/Media Literacy Award category of the 2019 Global Youth & News Media Prize. Supporters of our work include the Financial Times , we are also the founding Secretariat of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Media Literacy.

This role has an integral role to help our dynamic media literacy charity to launch pop-up newsrooms, help pupil journalists write local news stories, and focus on the issues that our young people care about most.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and grow our audiences across all these channels LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, Instagram
  • Conceive and write regular posts to facilitate engagement with the schools, influencers and organisations within the education sector
  • Create and manage the content calendar including producing engaging posts along with a steady stream of shareable content with CTAs, in collaboration with staff and management
  • Monitor and respond to all social media platforms ensuring quality outputs which are consistent with brand guidelines
  • Help to build stronger relationships with external stakeholders through social media including charities, journalists, influencers and followers
  • Research and identify new material to be published and promoted online
  • Stay abreast of, and advise others, regarding social media trends and developments, marketing and campaigning
  • Use key messages, stories and examples that inspire and promote our media literacy charity
  • Measure and report on the performance of all the social media campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
  • Produce and distribute regular and timely website and social media reports to staff, trustees and funders as required

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of managing, growing and nurturing online communities: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and any other interactive web platforms
  • Good copywriting skills and artistic flair
  • Experience of producing engaging digital content and maintaining a content calendar
  • Ability to work with web and social media analytics to measure and improve performance
