Funding for arts venues and initiatives in Southwark has fallen by over £35,000 over the last five years.

In 2015, nine individual arts venues received funding surpassing £187,000. However, since 2016, only six venues have received funding, totalling £152,000.

The media literacy charity The Student View made the findings following a Freedom of Information request to Southwark Council.

Dulwich Events have seen a budget cut of £10,000, from £44,000 to £34,000, over the same time period.

Southwark Festivals fund was cut by £20,000, from £75,000 to £55,000 annually.

The budget for the annual firework display, however, has stayed at £65,000 a year.

Southwark Council declined the opportunity to respond.
