Southwark Council has clamped down on flytipping and littering over the last five years, with the number of fines more than doubling since 2015.

238 Final Penalty Notices (FPNs) were distributed in 2015, compared to 517 in 2019.

In 2016, there were 231, in 2017, 266, and in 2018, 480.

The single biggest fine issued to one individual or business in 2015 stood at £7,280, and in 2016, £12,500. In 2019, it was just £1,480- all including costs.

In 2019, the five worst streets for flytipping were named as Peckham Rye, Rock Grove Way, Amina Way, Arnside Street and Lucey Way.

The media literacy charity The Student View made the findings after submitting a Freedom of Information request to Southwark Council.
