There were a total of 152 admissions of teenagers to Epsom and St Helier Hospitals for drug-related illnesses last year.

There has been a slight increase in admissions since 2015 as six more teenagers went to hospital for misusing drugs in 2019.

In the meantime, Sutton Council has cut funding for the delivery of treatment and care for people who have a substance abuse problem by £210,162 since 2016.

The findings were made by media literacy charity The Student View following submission of a Freedom of Information request.

Epsom and St Helier Hospitals NHS Trust has been contacted for a comment but no response was received in time for publication.
