What is it like to have journalism change your life?

On 3 May 2018, the Canadian Journalism Foundation took a moment to pause and celebrate the good and important work that journalism does in the world. The CJF launched the first-ever World News Day with inaugural events in Toronto and Montreal featuring journalists and citizens sharing stories about the power of journalism and how it affected change in their lives and communities.

The Student View are proud to have founded the sixth pillar of World News Day, which promotes the value of media literacy. We are working towards making it an essential part of school curriculums across the globe.

Solomon Elliott, founder and CEO of The Student View was joined onstage at the International Journalism Festival, Perugia, by Madhav Chinnappa, Director of News Ecosystem Development at Google, Robyn Dolittle of The Globe and Mail and Natalie Turvey, President of the Canadian Journalism Foundation.
