What’s the difference between Amur leopards and snow leopards
Many may wonder about the difference between the two subspecies of leopard. Snow leopards were given this name due to their colour, and Amur leopards have longer fur, but other than that the two subspecies are generally the same.
Where are snow leopards found?
You might think that snow leopards are only found in cold place such as Antarctica, but that’s not the case. Snow leopards are generally found in regions of Asia, such as India and China. The latter is where you can find 60% of snow leopard habitat. Interestingly, they are also found in Russia!
Where exactly in the world is the snow leopard becoming extinct?
Sightings of snow leopards have gone down mainly in Pakistan. Here less than 450 remain, so this is where they are most endangered. It is believed that hunting is the primary cause of their endangerment.
What the short-term and long-term solutions to this problem?
An obvious short-term solution would be for humans to stop hunting them. We also need a secondary solution to be put in place. A less obvious idea would be to speak up about wildlife and defend them. Animals don’t just have to be our livestock. They did inhabit this world before humans, so we should respect that. Keeping quiet about this issue will achieve nothing.
